  • How does your video coaching program work?
We conduct live video coaching sessions which are held over Zoom. On the call, we will review your own game footage with you. We prepare and look over the video ahead of time. Then we screen share it with you and give you real-time, direct personalized coaching.
  • Can you provide advice beyond video coaching?
Yes! We are happy to provide mentorship and general guidance as younger players find their own "Hockey Path". We can share our experiences as players who have progressed and made it to the NCAA / pro hockey level.
  • What ages are the players that you video coach?
We video coach players all the way from 10U up to junior hockey players. Typically the players who do best in our video coaching program are those who are hard working, driven and really enjoy the game.
  • How does a video session work?
Our video sessions are held over Zoom and last approximately 45 minutes. During the call, we screenshare the pre-clipped video and we talk through the key points. We give guidance on plays and help talk through situations so that your player will be better equipped to improve their play.
  • Why is video analysis helpful?
Video analysis is constantly used at the junior, college and pro level. It is a way to study the game and improve your tactics and hockey sense. We are spreading video analysis to youth players so that they can benefit in the same way.
  • How often should I schedule video sessions?
It's entirely dependent on your personal preference, including your time commitment, budget and your current goals. We recommend at least a few over the course of a season so that we can check in on your progress and introduce new concepts over time. With more regular video review, you can pick up on concepts faster, implement changes sooner and develop your hockey IQ faster. If interested in a package with us, you can book via the link below.
  • What do you use for video sources?
We can use whatever source you have available. Typical sources include LiveBarn, BlackBear TV, Hudl, Youtube, FloHockey and many others. Once we have the raw footage, we will edit it to include just your shifts from the selected game.
  • Do I have to edit or upload the video myself?
No, you don't. We will handle all of the editing of the video footage. All you have to do is tell us the game details & how to access, or provide the relevant link to the video stream.
  • How much footage do you review in one video session?
Typically, we find it best to use one game of footage per video session. A player usually plays between 10-15 minutes per game. This give us plenty of footage to review and talk through. In a typical session, we spend approximately ~15 minutes watching the footage, ~20 minutes talking over it and another ~10 minutes introducing and summarizing key points.
  • When should I schedule my first video session?
Typically, our coaches are most available during weeknights. Many of them still play or coach at a high level, so they will be busy with games most Fridays and Saturday. When you sign up for a session or package, we will put you in touch with your coach and they can confirm scheduling which works for them.
  • Who are your coaches?
We have a team of coaches who are primarily current college & pro hockey players. They all specialize in conducting video review over Zoom and are great mentors for younger players. You can check out our coaches page through the link at the top of the page.
  • How do you select your video coaches?
Our video coaches are former & current NCAA and pro hockey players. They are organized and responsible young individuals who have an excellent understanding of hockey. We look to find people who are excellent role models for the young hockey players we video coach. All of our coaches have been closely vetted and qualified for their role with The Hockey Path.
  • Which coach is best for me?
If you'd like to work with us on a regular basis, we recommend scheduling an intro call below so that we can pair you with an ideal coach. Otherwise, feel free to schedule a session with "The Hockey Path" as the selected coach and we will match someone with you based on availability.
